Many people don’t know that there are three categories of hearing loss spectrum:
- Partial Frequency Hearing Loss (PFHL) - Ultra-Mild Category
- Mid-Level Hearing Loss (MLHL) - Mild-Moderate Category
- Comprehensive Hearing Loss (CHL) - Severe Category
To find out which category you fall into, simply copy a few details from your hearing test chart (audiogram) into the chart below. If you don’t have a copy of your hearing test results, you can ask your hearing provider to email it to you. Then, you’re all set.
Get Your Results in Just 2 Minutes. Let’s Do It!
Simply get your hands on a copy of your hearing test (audiogram), and enter the hearing thresholds for the left ear (usually shown as a blue X) and the right ear (usually shown as a red O). You’ll only need to enter the results for four frequencies, so it doesn’t take long.

“Such a great tool, I knew I was hearing well most of the time, but was advised I needed hearing aids with a $6000 price tag. Interesting to see that some of my hearing range is actually within the normal limits.”

“After much persistence from my wife, I went for a hearing test, but came out really unsure of how bad my hearing actually was and whether I did urgently need to address the problem. As I suspected I only have some high frequency hearing loss, but otherwise my hearing is very good (and I’m 72).”

“I came out from seeing a specialist who prescribed me hearing aids but they didn’t advise me my percentage hearing loss which I wanted to know. Using this calculator, my loss is limited to the middle and high frequency range only related to my industrial work, with overall relatively low hearing loss percentage. Good to finally have an answer to my question.”
